NY- Part 3

Next.... the Sacred Grove

We went on the most perfect, warm, beautiful spring day ever! The trees we just starting to get their leaves and you seriously could hear "bees humming and sweet birds singing".... i swear!!

on our way... we were the only ones there- it was awesome!


We had to stop and look at everything- of course :o)

New York- part 2

Next stop was the Smith Farm. The Smith boys cleared out acres and acres of trees to build this farm. 

Here is a rebuilt version of the first house the Smith family lived in when they moved to Palmyra- Joseph Sr, Lucy and 8 children....

The Smith Family moved to Manchester...which actually was about a three minute walk from the first house :) Ty loved all the open space to run, play and be a boy!!---- running down the path to the next farm house...

Farm House #2- Alvin was actually building this house to move unto with his wife but never was able to finish it.  After he died, the family finished it and moved in.

This house is 85% original construction.  We even saw the fireplace where Joseph hid the plates when the mob came.

Did I mention it is GOREGEOUS here? :o)

New York- part 1

We absolutely LOVE it out here!! Upstate NY is one of the most beautiful places i have ever seen!! it is so green and the blue skies go on forever!! It is so much fun being close to some church sites...here is one of our first adventures here in NY!

This is first Publication site of the Book of Mormon.

Downstairs was a bookshop....


They went through and showed us the process of printing and binding those first editions.... it was INTENSE!!

Here is the upstairs of the book shop where the printing would have been done.


The Book of Mormon was printed paragraph by paragraph... can you even imagine the time that would take??



After the full sheets were printed, they would fold it and smash it together for hours. Then they would cut the folded part of the book, take string and basically sew the pages together....

Lastly, they would put the cover on and press it together forever :)
and vuala!! a Book of Mormon :O)
